Terrible News…

This morning’s egg retrieval was going smoothly until… none of my eggs would come out… Dr. B was stunned… after I came to and they told me the terrible news, I took a pregnancy test and there was not even a hint of a line, which after taking the trigger shot should NOT happen.  Meaning that the Ovidrel shot I took on Sunday had no drug in it whatsoever.  Once I get my wits back, I’ll be calling the pharmacy (FREEDOM) to let them know they sold me a dud and to get my money back.

Needless to say, we’re devastated.  I’ll write more once we’ve had some time to process this.  I think that we’ll start the IVF process again as soon as my stupid period shows up…

  1. That is HORRIBLE! I am so angry for you and sad, too. I’m so, so sorry this happened. Sending you big hugs, my friend.

  2. Oh no! No no no no no. I am so, so sorry. To go through all of that and have a crucial medication fail like that, ugh, I can’t even imagine how devastating that feels. I’m so sorry. I’m thinking of you and sending you many virtual hugs and chocolate chip cookies.

  3. Oh my goodness! I am so ticked off for you! If you want “anger” to call the pharmacy let me know. I am so sorry that you got a dud trigger.

  4. I’m so so so so so sorry. There are not many words I can think of to express how terrible this is. :(

  5. I am so sorry! That is just horrible! It’s pretty sad/frustrating when we can’t even rely on the drugs to do what they are supposed to do. Sending hugs, and hoping you can start a new cycle sooner than later.

  6. Oh no! That is so horrible!!!! I am so sorry. I just cannot believe it.

    BIG HUGS!!!

  7. OH NO!!! I’m so sorry! I’m fuming on your behalf right now. F. P. had better be willing to make this right.

    (((Hugs)))

  8. What?!! WHAT?! That is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. I’m so sorry – what confusion and disappointment you must be feeling. I’m sure you will be contacting the company, but can they do anything more for you (like also pay for the other meds you will need for the re-do?). Oh, I am SO mad and upset for you!!!! This is the last thing you need!

OK, deep breath. I’m sitting here in my office yelling at the computer. Sending you lots of love and hugs and maybe even a margarita or three…

  9. This is just shit and they should give you your money back and then some!

  10. Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry. That stinks. I don’t even know what to say, except I’m sorr.y

  11. I am so so sorry. You never imagine something like that happening. I hope you can get your money back and some. That is such crap. I can’t believe you had to go thru this, it just isn’t fair. Here’s hoping this next cycle goes much more smoothly. I’m so sorry you’re even having to go on to another cycle.

  12. This is so terrible! So incredibly, unbelievably terrible.

  13. I’m here from LFCA. Thank you for posting! Turns out I have *2* Ovidrel syringes matching that lot info. I’m so sorry this happened to you.

  14. I am so so sorry this happened to you. I can only imagine how frustrated and angry you must be. Thank you for tweeting the lot number/expiration date of your shot. I discovered that I have an Ovidrel shot from the same lot in my fridge to be used next week. I am not sure what kind of response you got from the pharmaceutical company, but when I called, they basically blew me off and told me that I shouldn’t believe everything that I read on a blog. I am seriously considering getting a new shot even if I can’t return the one I have.

  15. No fracking way! How could that happen? I am so, so sorry.

Grrrr… I would be so darn ANGRY, too!

    Thanks for the warning.

  16. How can this happen! I can’t believe it. I am so so so sorry to read this. Surely the pharmaceutical company will have to compensate you for this.

  17. I think that should compenstate you for the meds and the busted cycle. That’s just crazy!

  18. This is just horrible, horrible, horrible! I am so so sorry!
Thank you for posting the warning! I actually have the same exact lot number in my fridge and was planning on using it next week! I ordered it from Freedom Pharmacy as well.

  19. I’m so far behind in my blog reading that I am just now seeing this. Of course I knew about it at the time, but now I feel like my heart is breaking for you all over again. Love, mom
